Last Thursday (Nov. 2), while out shopping with ERod, a call lit up my phone from the 412 area code. Not recognizing the area code number, I quickly debated with myself whether I need to answer the call. I decided to answer - and at the other end came a voice from Western Pennsylvania..."Hi, this is Coach Wannstedt of the Pittsburgh Panthers...It seemed Coach Wannstedt was interested in introducing himself to me before meeting ERod sometime this December on a recruiting trip to New Jersey. I told Coach we were pleased with PITT's interest in ERod and looked forward to a visit to campus after all runningbacks coach David Walker (ERod's PITT recruiter) had told us about the campus and the educational component of ERod's college experience.
It will be interesting for me to meet Coach Wannstedt because my first memory of him was as the Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator years ago. He went on to become head coach of both the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins.
