Officially to Morgantown

Left: Woodburn Hall on the Campus of West Virginia University

ERod will be making his long-anticipated "official visit" to West Virginia University this weekend (Jan. 19-21). He flies out of Newark Airport on Friday for Pittsburgh, where he will be met and driven 1.5 hours South to Morgantown and the University.

With three WVU coaches leaving in the past 10 days, including ERod's recruiter Herb Hand (to Tulsa University) the recruiting scene in WV has been helter-skelter. Yesterday the team named Ron West of Clemson University their new Offensive Line Coach/Assistant Coach (to replace Coach Trickett who left for Florida State University). Today, West decided to return to Clemson! So WVU is still three coaches shy of a full staff in the waning days of the recruiting season. As it is, the Mountaineers had so many early commitments that they were not in need of adding numbers this late in the game. Whether all those committed become eligible in time to enroll is another story.

ERod's basketball Bruins eeked out a win vs. Ferris High School tonight (59-51) to move to 8-2, including 6 straight wins. His offensive production is way down in the last three contests (13 points total) after averaging close to 14 points in his first 5 games. The 6-game winning streak is approaching the Bruins best run in ERod's 4 years...last year the team won 8 straight, a streak that ended with their second-round state playoff loss to Union Hill.

And late word tonight from the Bruins County League...Bayonne High School, which leads the league, was upset at home. They are now 11-1, beaten by Union Hill, which is 9-3.
