A Game for the Ages

No one who witnessed the North I Group IV Sectional Final will ever forget the marvelous action that kept the rowdy sell-out crowd enthralled for 2 1/2 hours...including one overtime session. And in the end, hopefully all will try to forget the melee on the court and in the parking lot that followed the North Bergen Bruins crushing one-point loss to Passaic County Tech, 86-85.

ERod suffered through another full quarter of sitting in a huge game, again plagued by foul trouble. And yet, when the final stats were counted, he still had one of his best state playoff games ever, recording a hard-earned 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists and 2 steals. Kenny DeDios hit for 22 in a strong performance, but what will always haunt these Seniors is the way they turned the ball over six times in the start of the third quarter to see their 8-point lead turn into a 2-point deficit.

They battled through to the end but PCT's stellar FT shooting and North Bergen's penchant for unforced turnovers were the deciding factor.

ERod officially ends his North Bergen career with an overall team record of 66-33 in 99 total games, very good...but a couple points short of his ultimate dream, a state title.

NOTES: The team will now sift back through their record books and see if they can finally confirm his correct point total - a total which more than a few believes surpassed the coveted 1,000 point mark.
