Last night a call from WVU top recruiter Herb Hand came in around 9 PM and he was interested to know how ERod liked our trip to campus. I told Coach Hand ERod enjoyed the trip very much and felt "comfortable" at WVU. He asked if ERod would consider returning to campus on December 2nd for the BIG GAME vs. our home state university, Rutgers. I felt he'd be up for it.
I spoke with ERod in the afternoon and he said he was looking forward to going back, saying he already told Coach Hand he was coming, and he would like to see if he could have his mother join him for her first look at campus. With the terminal illness of her mother (and ERod's grandmother) hanging over her head, it might be tough to get his mother away at this time. Surely she would be interested in ERod's official visit down the line, if that happens. We'll wait and see.
With just over a week left in ERod's Senior football season we sat down late this afternoon in Coach Ascolese's office at North Bergen High School and pulled together ERod's Senior Season highlights on a VHS tape. Eventually we'll put it on DVD with a compilation of all his other wonderful highlights from a fantastic High School career.
And there are rumors swirling about ERod's first post-season honor. A reliable source has said to expect to see ERod named to the prestigious New Jersey/New York Governor's Bowl, an all-star game for local HS players to be played June 10, 2007 at Kean University. No official word will come on this possible selection for months.
