An "official" visit differs from our prior "unofficial" visits in the fact that WVU will actually pay ERod's way, either for a flight there or mileage for me if we drive. They cannot pay for the mother's airfare, but, both ERod and his mother can have their own rooms in a hotel. WVU can pay for all of his entertainment within a certain budget. Then there are any other number of rules that I wont bore you with.
While meeting with Coach Hand, he mentioned that he heard from St. Peter's Prep Coach Hansen that Evan "probably won the Hudson County Defensive Player of the Year" for a second year in a row. But it's only speculation. Then, on the way out from watching ERod's first basketball scrimmage in Paterson, NJ, assistant hoops Coach Ralph Marino said he heard MSG's (Madison Square Garden TV Network) High School guru Mike Quick said ERod had made the all Tri-State Team. Again, heresy, to date.
Lastly, this IS official...ERod will take part in the annual Heisman Award breakfast for the area's top HS players and Heisman Trophy candidates. It's a tremendous honor. And, to get back to expenses, something he will need a suit for, something we'll need to get him in the next few days.
