ERod was overlooked in an article today concerning the two-deep for the Spring practices. While this has rankled a few friends who contacted me immediately, it's all good. Coach Lockwood probably has been overwhelmed with all his new responsibilities and learning the new players. I don't feel it is a slight of ERod as Coach Lockwood has never seen him in person during practice yet and since he was redshirted last season, there is no reason to elevate him over veterans.
I am all for new players earning their respect and position on the field and nowhere else. Players with the ability and heart that Evan has will rise above the challenges and I have no doubt he can do just this. If he becomes impatient it could be a recipe for disaster. I believe if ERod is given the opportunity to play Safety that Coach Stewart told him he would get, he will earn a spot in the two-deep or better this season. If he doesn't, he will need to work harder.
Spring practices start March 14...just nine days from now.
