Moving forward while remaining a hot topic

ERod has faxed his transcript to a few schools this past week as he attempts to enter a new University in time for the Fall semester. While there is still time to get this accomplished, it is running out quickly. No decision has been made which school he is most interested in but I will let you know when something more concrete is known.

And strange as it seems, ERod is still a hot a topic in West Virginia. This was due to my latest blog entry. And, although it seemed quite transparent, many still questioned who said what regarding ERod. I felt the entry made a clear point that a reason he decided not to return was based on what it was reported a "prominent" coaching staff member said in a public setting about him. It wasn't the ONLY reason, but, of course, with drama always a tasty sidedish on the online message boards, some read the post and were "shocked" to read it was THE reason he wasn't interested in returning. Not so.

I will say WVU fans are very passionate and I have admired this about them. They made the past year and a half a great experience for ERod and all of us who know him. But some fans prefer to put their blinders in place when discussing their team/staff.

As I stated MANY times in postings on the two team fan sites over the last year, I would never condone ERod's poor behavior when he displayed it while with the team. He suffered consequences whenever he misbehaved and currently is charged with a misdemeanor that still needs to be settled. And, as is always the case, some have chosen to convict him before the trial, which is their right but very self-serving, at the very least. Especially in light of the current Mountaineer team, which admittedly includes a few with questionable ethics, to say the least. Hard to believe? Start searching with the coaching staff.

What some either fail to realize or don't want to know is I started this blog long before ERod headed to WVU and I've reported all I could so friends/family/fans could follow his career. Despite what some might suggest, this blog wasn't started with the hope two years down the road I could help create an online free-for-all. But if my "unsubstantiated story" (as one website referred to it) about this coach's comment was fiction, why would I get a personal phone call from the Head Coach that lasted 35 minutes just four days after mailing a letter to the team? Apparently it doesn't seem odd to some fans that a Head Coach preparing his team to head into what could be another BCS Bowl game season would take valuable time to discuss my letter to the staff just days after I mailed it. Do they respond in-kind to all fans contacting them?

Life moves on and I do wish the Mountaineers and their fans well. But my hope is the coach in question contacts ERod and his family, and apologize for his moronic remark to a season-ticket holder/booster. It's the same thing I asked him to do in my letter, sent in early July.
